“There is nothing you can do without moving.”  ~Twyla Tharp

Breathing is the most essential movement we can do.  We breath 25,900 breaths/day, thanks to the diaphragm- your bodies muscle of inspiration and emptying.  It is potentially the most active muscle in the body, innervated by 13 different nerves!  Due to being closely linked to the limbic system, the diagphragm is one of the first muscles to respond to stress, along with the upper trapezius and levator scapula. read more

Acid blockers, good?

Posted on Apr 13, 2012 in Digestive Health, Holistic Health, Naturally Nancy, Nutrition

Ha!  A “parody” of what happens when a woman goes to the doctor to discussing getting off her acid blocker medication.  The truth is that the majority of people with acid reflux actually need more stomach acid to help break down the food.  It comes back up (reflux) because it is sitting in the stomach unable to be broken down.  This could be do to overeating, eating the wrong foods (or more likely “non-foods”), or being in a constant low level state of stress.  When the sympathetic (fight or flight) side of the nervous system is active, the parasympathetic (rest and digest) side of the nervous system gets turned off.  And let’s face it, how many of us are nice and relaxed throughout the day, taking plenty of time to sit and eat a peaceful meal?  Need help sorting it all out?  I am here to help.  Contact me today to discuss how to eat, sleep, move and feel better. read more

In this video one of my original and all-time favorite mentors, Paul Chek, simply and decisively describes how problems in the muscles are usually a sign of a much deeper underlying problem, being “dumped’ reflexively into the muscles.  “The organs are in charge of the musculoskeletal system and they will sacrifice the muscles and joints any day of the week for their own health and vitality…Organs are the controllers.”  Powerful, simple, life-changing awareness.  No joke! read more

Posted on May 15, 2011 in Digestive Health, Naturally Nancy

Your gut is literally your second brain. In addition to digesting your food it actually has the ability to significantly influence your:

  • Mind
  • Mood
  • Behavior.

“It’s not a widely understood or emphasized fact, but studies have repeatedly shown that a healthy gut reinforces a positive outlook and behavior, while depression and a variety of behavioral problems have been linked to an imbalance or lack of gut bacteria.” read more
